Catherine Rollet (1942-2016)
We are deeply saddened to announce that Catherine Rollet, Professor Emeritus at the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, passed away on December 16th. Catherine’s work, which fell at the intersection of history, sociology and demography, focused on health and social policies for children, as well as on family, infant mortality, disability, and social work with regard to children.
As President of the National Committee and the International Organizing Committee for the 2005 International Population Conference in Tours, she was the driving force behind the unprecedented splendor of the Tours Conference. As member of the IUSSP Council from 2006 to 2013, she was particularly involved in the work of the Scientific Panel on Historical Demography. She also fought with conviction to preserve the place of the French language within the Union.
